Meet Kathy

I am a registered nurse, doula, lactation counselor, and nurse-midwifery graduate student with a background in education. I bring warmth, evidence-based information, and a deep respect for each family’s individual needs, preferences, and goals.

As a mother and grandmother, I know that pregnancy, birth, and the early weeks with a baby can be joyful, intense, and transformative. My role is to offer thoughtful support, clear information, and a steady presence through each of these transitions.

My Path to This Work

Harbor & Hearth lotus and wave logo.

After more than two decades as an educator, I found myself thinking deeply about how I wanted to use my skills and experience in the next chapter of my life. The birth of my granddaughter in 2022 brought me back into the world of pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood at a time when I was already considering a change.

What began as a desire to support families in a new way led me to nursing, doula and lactation training, and now graduate study in nurse-midwifery. Although the setting has changed, much of what I value in this work is familiar: listening carefully, explaining things clearly, building relationships, and helping people feel informed and supported.

Experience & Training

Doula + Lactation

I’m trained in labor and postpartum doula support through ProDoula and as a lactation counselor through the Healthy Children Project.

I also work with Community Doulas to provide accessible doula care to families in Maine, with support spanning pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and infant feeding.

Registered Nurse

I’m a registered nurse with clinical experience in labor and delivery, prenatal care, mother-baby care, and the NICU.

I completed my nursing education at the University of New England, where my clinical training strengthened my foundation in maternal and newborn care.

Nurse-Midwifery

I’m continuing my education as a nurse-midwifery graduate student at George Washington University.

My graduate studies build on my nursing, doula, and lactation experience as I prepare for advanced practice in reproductive, maternal, and newborn care.
